Good practices on issuing and depositing cheques

Dear customers,

To help ensure smooth processing of cheque transactions and reduce the risk of delays or fraud, customers are encouraged to observe the following good practices when issuing or depositing cheques.

For cheque depositors
Please ensure the following details are clearly provided on the back of the cheque when depositing them at our branches or Cheque Deposit Machines (CDMs):

  • Account number to be credited  
  • Full name  
  • Contact number
  • Specific payment description

  • Rental Payment – April 2026

Incomplete or unclear information will result in delays in cheque processing.


Keep a copy of the deposit slip or transaction receipt for your records and future reference.


For cheque issuers

Customers issuing cheques are reminded to:

  • Ensure sufficient funds are available in the account before issuing cheques. Returned cheques due to insufficient funds will delay transactions, resulting in extra charges, and may affect your account’s standing.
  • Verify that the date, amount, and payee details are correctly written.
  • Avoid signing blank cheques.
  • Keep cheque books securely and report any lost or stolen cheques immediately
  • Do not leave any fields blank when issuing a cheque.

  • Avoid issuing partially completed cheques.

  • Ensure the amount written in words matches the amount in numbers.

  • Avoid overwriting or making excessive corrections on the cheque, as this may lead to rejection.

 

Cheque fraud awareness
Customers are advised to exercise caution when accepting cheques from unknown parties or for transactions that appear suspicious. Please verify cheque details carefully and avoid sharing cheque images or banking information unnecessarily.

Cheque fraud can also take several forms:

  • Altered cheques – details such as amount or payee are changed
  • Counterfeit cheques – fake cheques made to look real
  • Overpayment scams – you’re asked to refund part of a cheque before it clears

The Bank may contact customers for additional verification or supporting information where required as part of our security and operational processes.

The Bank may also decline or not process any cheque if it is linked to activities that do not comply with Shariah principles. Customers are responsible for ensuring their cheque usage is in line with permitted activities.

We’ve transformed our branch services

Our selected branches have now been successfully transformed into Smart Financial Centers (SFCs). We’d like to share what’s new and how you can continue to access our services smoothly.

Several alrajhi bank Malaysia branches across the country were transformed into Smart Financial Centers (SFCs) between 23 February 2026 and 4 March 2026.

These centers are designed to make your banking experience simpler through digital and self-service options. As part of this transformation, some over-the-counter (OTC) services have been discontinued, and a few locations will be gradually phased out.

This change is part of alrajhi bank Malaysia’s digital transformation journey, allowing the Bank to deliver faster, more convenient, and more efficient services through digital and self-service channels.

What services will still be available at the branch after it becomes a Smart Financial Center? 

After the transition, Smart Financial Centers will focus on advisory, service support, and digital banking assistance. Automated Teller Machines (ATM) and Cash Deposit Machines (CDM) at all branches/Smart Financial Centers will remain available.

 

Is the Bank closing its branches?

Yes, 7 of our branches will close, but we have transformed 6 others into Smart Financial Centers. These new centers are designed to give you a more modern, seamless, and convenient banking experience, with personalized support. 

 

Are the branches closing immediately? 

No, the branches will not be closing immediately. Instead, they will operate as Smart Financial Centers. These centers will continue to serve customers during the transition period and will be gradually closed, with closures occurring on 26 June, 30 June, and 29 July 2026.

 

Why is alrajhi bank Malaysia closing branches? 

This change reflects how customers are increasingly banking digitally. The Bank is evolving how services are delivered, not reducing its presence. Customers will continue to have access to branches, ATMs, digital banking platforms, and our Customer Care team. 

 

Will my accounts, cards, or banking arrangements change? 

No, your accounts and cards will remain unchanged. 

 

Will I still be able to access my money after this change? 

Yes. Customers will continue to have uninterrupted access to all banking services. Only certain over-the-counter (OTC) cash services at Smart Financial Centers will stop. ATM and CDM services at all branches/Smart Financial Centers remain available and digital banking services remain fully accessible.

  • Product information and guidance – Financing, deposits, savings, and other banking products
  • Customer service support – Issue resolution, service requests, and enquiries
  • Assistance for senior citizens and customers with disabilities – including guided support and in-person help

  • All alrajhi bank Malaysia ATMs and CDMs
  • MEPS ATM network nationwide
  • Over the counter at alrajhi bank Malaysia Bangsar branch and Kuching branch. 

 

Where else can I withdraw or deposit cash besides going to the branch? 

Customers may continue using any alrajhi bank Malaysia ATM and CDM and withdraw or deposit cash using the MEPS ATM network nationwide.  

 

Are ATM withdrawals still free? 

Cash withdrawals at any alrajhi bank Malaysia ATM remains free-of-charge and all alrajhi bank Malaysia debit cardholders enjoy up to three free cash withdrawals per month at all MEPS ATM nationwide. 

 

How can I do my daily banking without visiting a branch? 

  • For personal banking, please use the MY alrajhi mobile banking app
  • For business banking, please use alrajhicashbiz@24seven online banking platform. 

 

What if I’m not comfortable using digital banking? 

Our employees at the Smart Financial Centers can provide step-by-step guidance, and customers may also visit our Bangsar or Kuching branch for traditional counter services. 

 

What support is available for customers? 

Our customers will continue to receive in-person assistance at the Smart Financial Centers. Staff will be available to guide them through digital banking or help with their enquiries during their visit.  

 

Will all customers be forced to use digital banking only? 

No. Customers who require additional assistance will continue to receive in-person support and may choose to visit our other branches that offer traditional counter services. 

 

I visit my branch frequently, traveling to another alrajhi bank Malaysia branch will be difficult. 

There are alternative ways of banking with us that could reduce the need to visit a branch as often, as most of our services are also now available on MY alrajhi. If you need more information, we will be happy to discuss the options available to you. 

 

I would like to close my alrajhi bank Malaysia accounts. Who should I speak to?

Affluent Banking – change in profit rates and profit rate structure effective 15 January 2026

We would like to inform our Affluent Banking and Diamond Affluent customers that there will be a change in profit rates, together with a refreshed profit rate structure for eligible savings balances, effective 15 January 2026.
The existing two-tier structure will be extended into a four-tier structure to provide clearer differentiation across balance levels and to better reward customers who maintain higher savings balances with us.

Starting 8 January 2026, we will refresh the profit rate structure for the DuitPlus Savings Account‑i. This update allows us to offer clearer, more rewarding tiers that better support your financial goals.

What’s changing?

The existing four-tier profit rate structure has been simplified into a three-tier structure, designed to make your earnings more transparent and even more aligned with your savings habits.

The revised profit rates effective 8 January 2026 are:
