30 Jul 2026
Al Rajhi Banking & Investment Corporation (Malaysia) Bhd (alrajhi bank Malaysia) closed the 2025 financial year with sharp gains in profitability, underpinned by core financing growth, stronger investment income, continued cost discipline and lower expected credit losses. The results reflect the bank's continued progress in building a more sustainable earnings base as it expands its retail product offering and deepens its digital capabilities.
The Bank’s key financial highlights for the period include:
- Strong profitability growth: Profit Before Tax (PBT) topped RM207.4 million, a 21.2% expansion from RM171.2 million in FY2024.
- Core income growth: Total Net Income rose by 9.8% to RM506.6 million (FY2024: RM461.4 million), primarily driven by stronger investment income and non-yield income alongside lower expected credit loss allowances.
- Balance sheet expansion: Total Customer Deposits grew 13.2% YoY to RM14.8 billion (FY2024: RM13.1 billion), supported by a 12.2% expansion in Current Account Savings Accounts (CASA) balances.
- Enhanced efficiency: ROE increased to 10.05% (FY2024: 9.02%). The Cost-to-Income Ratio (CIR) improved to 56.5% from 59.2% as Total Operating Income (before ECL allowances) grew 8% YoY, outpacing overhead growth of 3% YoY.
FY2025 saw meaningful operational and strategic progress beyond the headline financial results. As a key step in transforming its retail banking business, alrajhi bank Malaysia introduced GoldInvest-i on the MY alrajhi app, a digital investment feature that creates new fee-based income opportunities while supporting growing customer demand for accessible Shariah-compliant investment solutions. The Bank will continue to expand its digital product roadmap, with additional products and services to be delivered through the MY alrajhi app—positioning the platform as a scalable channel for deeper customer engagement, customer acquisition and revenue diversification as the Bank progresses towards retail breakeven.
2026 Momentum
In Q2 of 2026, the bank further expanded its retail product suite with the launch of the Visa Platinum Credit Card-i and Visa Signature Credit Card-i, its first credit cards—offering Malaysians cashback rewards, travel privileges, and Shariah-compliant credit. Cardholders can also seamlessly activate and manage their cards directly on the MY alrajhi app, including setting spending limits, or freezing lost cards instantly.
Syahrul Ishak, Chief Executive Officer of alrajhi bank Malaysia, said: "FY2025 was a year where the discipline we have been building across the business started to show up clearly in our numbers. PBT growth of 21.2%, a double-digit ROE, and a meaningfully improved Cost-to-Income Ratio—these are not one-off gains. They reflect the steady work our teams have done across revenue, cost management, efficiency, and risk.
A key milestone in 2025 was the progress we made in transforming our retail banking business. The launch of GoldInvest-i on the MY alrajhi app gave our customers an effortless way to manage digital gold, and adoption has been very encouraging. We carried that momentum into 2026 with our inaugural credit card lineup—a crucial step in completing our digital retail offering. These additions strengthen our position in everyday banking, and they are just the beginning.
“Looking ahead, our priorities are clear: building the MY alrajhi app into a comprehensive financial platform, deepening our SME proposition with tailored financing solutions, and advancing our role in green and ESG-linked financing aligned with Malaysia's National Energy Transition Roadmap. Our continued alignment with the alrajhi Group gives us access to shared expertise and global capabilities that will accelerate this next phase of growth.”
