Customers will also receive a lump sum payment for Badal Hajj of up to RM 8,000 in the event of Accidental Death/ Total Permanent Disability and up to RM 1,500 in the event of loss of luggage during travel.

“With these great added Takaful benefits, we are delighted to call on those who are looking to perform their Hajj or Umrah within the next 12 months to sign up for the Rafahia Debit Card-i in order to be assured of peace of mind throughout their pilgrimage,” said Chen, adding that the Rafahia Debit Card-i is expected to tap into more than 233,000 Hajj and Umrah pilgrims from Malaysia for the year 2016.

Also present at the launch was Datuk Dr Nik Norzrul Thani, BOD Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia.

“Besides contributing towards the growth of the Takaful industry in Malaysia, the Rafahia Debit Card-i also forms part of our continuous efforts to honour modern financial demands through the development of innovative products which appeal to our target market, as we continue to expand our suite of products and services to meet our growing customer pool. We believe the Rafahia Debit Card-i will appeal to Hajj and Umrah pilgrims in Malaysia in addressing their needs and convenience as it also offers the lowest ATM cash withdrawal fee of RM6 per transaction at any Al Rajhi Bank ATM in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” said Datuk Dr Nik.

The Rafahia Debit Card-i also offers attractive banking privileges which include exclusive rate of 0.25% above the Bank’s prevailing board rate for Term Deposit-i, wealth management exclusive rates and cards fee waivers. Additionally, customers who sign-up through ARBM Rafahia Co-Brand partners stand to enjoy additional entitlement access to ARBM’s personal financing of 0.5% below the Bank’s prevailing board rate and exclusive auto financing package of 0.5% below the Bank’s prevailing board rate. All these banking privileges are also extended to the Rafahia Debit Cardholders’ immediate family members.

In conjunction with the launch of the Rafahia Debit Card-i, ARBM is also launching a “Spare Your Change” Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. As part of this initiative, the retail transactions of customers who opt-in will be rounded up to the nearest Ringgit. The difference in value collected would then be utilised to purchase Umrah packages for deserving mosque keepers (Tok Siah) nominated by the general public through social media and email. The final selection of deserving mosque keepers will then be done by Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia Shariah Board based on stipulated criteria which include age, financial capability, years of service, geographical location and others. Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia will also match Ringgit for Ringgit the amount collected, up to RM200,000 to further support this CSR initiative.

“ARBM recognises these mosque keepers’ contributions towards helping to preserve the mosque as a place of worship within the community. We realise that some of them lack the financial capability to fund their own Umrah trip. As such, we hope this CSR initiative will assist them in fulfilling part of their religious obligation,’ added Datuk Dr Nik.
