1.   Mr Abdullah Sulaiman Al Rajhi | Chairman

Abdullah Sulaiman Al Rajhi, in his capacity as the Chief Executive Officer of Al Rajhi Bank, also spearheads the development of Al Rajhi Bank's Malaysian operation as its Chairman.

Upon completing his business studies, Abdullah Sulaiman, a member of the well-known Al Rajhi family, added to his academic achievements by attending training courses in the Wharton School in the United States of America and the Cranfield School of Management in the United Kingdom.

The Al Rajhis are renowned in the Gulf Area for varied business interests, with banking possibly being one of the most prominent. The bank has a humble origin as a money changer founded by the Al Rajhi brothers over 60 years ago. It became a full-fledged commercial bank in 1988 and the only bank in the Kingdom to be operating fully under Islamic banking principles. Today, it has grown into the most profitable bank in the Kingdom with the highest network of branches. It is currently the largest Islamic banking group in the world.

After familiarising himself with various activities and levels of banking operations, Abdullah Sulaiman assumed various senior responsibilities in the Bank. In 1996 he was promoted to the position of Director and General Manager, assuming responsibilities as the Chief Executive of the Group.

He also sits on the board at a number of other Saudi business organizations.

Abdullah Sulaiman is an avid speaker and advocate of Islamic banking principles, and he participates in many regional and international financial forums like the Islamic Banking and Finance Forum in Abu Dhabi, the Islamic Banking and Finance Forum in Bahrain , the Arab Capital Conference in Beirut, the Euromoney Conference and the Harvard Islamic Finance Information Program in Boston.

2.   Dato’ Dr Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani | Director

Dato' Dr Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani, was appointed as a board member of Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia in 2006. Dato' Dr. Nik advises clients on a wide range of legal matters, from banking advisory to Islamic Finance. To cite one of his more notable projects, he provided advisory services on the legal and regulatory aspects of the establishment of Labuan International Offshore Financial Centre and Labuan International Finance Exchange. He has also been a legal advisor to clients in foreign jurisdictions including Singapore , Indonesia and Australia.

Currently attached to Zaid Ibrahim and Co., Dato' Dr. Nik has extensive local and international experience. He was a Visiting Fulbright Scholar at Harvard Law School from 1996 to 1997.

Besides being a board member for Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia , Dato' Dr. Nik is also on the Board of Tabung Haji (TH), Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) and Chairman of the Licensing Committee of Labuan Financial Exchange (LFX).

Dato' Dr. Nik is also a renown writer on corporate and financial issues, particularly on Islamic Banking, and he has several articles and books to his credit.

3.   Dato' Majid Bin Mohamad | Director

Dato' Majid Bin Mohamad has been newly appointed as Al Rajhi Bank Malaysia's Director effective 18 March 2011. Prior to this, he was the CEO and President of Labuan Reinsurance Limited, where he was largely credited for managing the turn-around of the organisation into a profitable entity.

Dato' Majid has extensive experience in the setting up, regulatory planning and rehabilitation of a wide range of finance and insurance institutions in the industry. Starting out at the Central Bank of Malaysia in 1977, he has held various supervisory roles of influence across key departments, from audit to economics, and bank and insurance regulation.

In the insurance industry, he was Deputy CEO of Malaysia National Insurance Berhad in 1996 and then moved up the ladder to become CEO of Talasco Insurance Berhad in 2001, where he facilitated the successful merger between Talasco and People's Insurance Co (M) Bhd.

From managing key mergers to gaining listing status on the KLSE for various organisations to rehabilitating banks and finance companies affected by financial crises, Dato' Majid is a captain of industry and catalyst for transformation. His other related corporate activities include being a Member of the Exchange Committee for Labuan International Financial Exchange and Director of Asian Capital at Lloyd's (ACAL).

Dato' Majid holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Malaya Kuala Lumpur and a Masters of Business Administration from Manchester Business School, England.

4.   Mr Suliman Abdulaziz Azzabin | Non-Independent Non-Executive Director

Saudi born Suliman Abdulaziz Azzabin brings a wealth of experience to Al Rajhi Bank. His key expertise lie in accounting, credit, risk management and insurance management. He served at the helm of leading corporations such as Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) and is presently with Al Rajhi Bank Head Office, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Prior to his current appointment as General Manager, International Business, he was Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Al Rajhi Bank Jordan. His forte include establishing systems and policies as well as leading the development of Group strategies and business plans.

His corporate and banking experience is defined by a strong proficiency in enterprise risk management with astute knowledge of econometric modeling and in-depth development of advanced risk scoring models. He also carries vast experience in credit and investment including forecasting of market scenario changes impacting lending and investment risk exposures.

Suliman Abdulaziz Azzabin holds a Bachelor of Administrative Science, Accounting from King Saud University, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a MSc Master of Risk Management from Southampton University, United Kingdom.

5.   Encik Nik Hassan Bin Nik Mohd Amin | Independent Non-Executive Director

Encik Nik Hassan was appointed to the Board on 12 January 2012. He also serves as the Chairman of the Audit Committee and a member of the Remuneration and Nomination Committees of the Board.

He is an alumnus of University of Malaya where he graduated with a Bachelor in Economics. In 1971, he started his banking career with a local commercial bank and has spent more than 35 years in the banking and financial services sector.

Having worked in various senior capacities with the local commercial bank such as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of BBMB Securities Sdn Bhd, Chief Executive of Bumiputera Mechant Bankers Berhad, as well as Director of various financial subsidiaries of the Bumiputera-Commerce Bank Berhad, En. Nik Hassan has gained invaluable hands on experience in commercial banking, stock broking, factoring and merchant banking. From 2003 until his retirement, he was the Senior Executive Vice President of Corporate Banking Treasury and International Banking Division of the Bumiputera-Commerce Bank Berhad. He is also a Director of Agensi Kaunseling dan Pengurusan Kredit (AKPK).

Encik Nik Hassan also sits on the board of Golden Horse Palace Berhad and Danamodal Nasional Berhad.
